RADON (222) Rn
Radon is found everywhere on the earth’s surface. It is a colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that can move freely through soil. It can seep into buildings, especially through foundations. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer, after smoking.
Energy Efficiency
Energy efficiency is defined as the wise and rational use of energy. It requires that we manage energy needs more efficiently. Energy efficiency has three components: energy savings, consumption management and energy use.
Efflorescence
Efflorescence results in whitish streaks appearing on masonry materials exposed to the elements. Soluble salts migrate with moisture and react with alkaline compounds in cement. We therefore see crystalline accumulations appear on the surface of masonry units when the water evaporates.
Foundation cracks
In Quebec, clay soils are found in the most inhabited parts of the territory, particularly in the St. Lawrence Valley, the Ottawa Valley and the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.
Main ventilation
Ventilation ensures the renewal and purification of indoor air in the building. To do without it is to breathe air that is toxic, polluted and dangerous to your health!
